Áureo Lorenzo (1983, Cádiz) is a Spanish artist working across painting, drawing, and image-based processes.
His practice focuses on the figure as a site of tension between construction and erosion. Images are built, broken, and reworked through layering, removal, and distortion — often moving between drawing and painting as unstable states rather than fixed categories.
With a background in comics and over a decade working as a concept and storyboard artist in the video game industry (including titles such as Control and Returnal), his work explores the distance between image as production and image as expression.
Recent works reflect a shift away from industrial image-making toward a more fragmented and material approach, where repetition, failure, and reconstruction become central to the process.
He is currently developing a body of work centered on the hand as a recurring motif — a gesture of identity, control, and recovery.
